Laidback, nontraditional red, pink + purple wedding at The Fig House

Anyone out there planning a nontraditional wedding? Perhaps you want to gather with friends and family, but aren’t so keen on the idea of a formal ceremony? Then Kat and Ivan’s red, pink and purple wedding will be totally up your alley. These two ditched the traditional ceremony and went straight into celebration mode at LA’s Fig House (featured recently here), where they worked with One Darling Day and Going Steady Studios to inject all the color and creativity into their fun-filled day. Just wait till you see Kat’s dance party look among the photos by The Shalom Imaginative, to top it all off.

While they opted out of a traditional ceremony, they did exchange a few vows and sweet words among guests before dinner, which felt much more relaxed and intimate.

Kat explains, We absolutely loved The Fig House. We loved the indoor-outdoor feel of the venue, it felt so cozy and intimate. Since we didn’t want a ceremony we felt like this space was almost like an extension of a home and felt perfect for a party and celebration of our marriage.

Aren’t these striped runners so fun, along with red, purple and pink wedding blooms? Even the ribbon (and fringe!) to tie the bridal bouquet suggests a good time!

Absolutely love this darling seating chart by Velvet Fox Designs adorned with pink flower icons on a purple backdrop.

We really enjoyed the dinner outside in the courtyard, I think was the most memorable. Since Covid derailed our original date, it was so special to us to finally celebrate and enjoy good food and conversation with friends and family we didn’t get to see or celebrate with the past few years. The dancing and photobooth were also a huge hit and so much fun.

Speaking of fun, how about this hot pink shag cake covered in bold flowers?

And here’s dress #2, which fits in perfectly among the fringe…

Finally, Kat swapped the bridalwear for a relaxed (but totally on theme) party dress.

Final tips from our bride… We had an amazing wedding planner who made everything so smooth, especially when we had to reschedule due to Covid. She really helped us get in touch with all the vendors and the venue to secure our rescheduled wedding celebration. I would not have been able to do that alone. As for tips, book your venue and important vendors first and as soon as possible! It was surprising to know that some venues would need you to book almost a year in advance. I also suggest hiring a wedding planner who can help bring your ideas to life.
