Yellow “Summer Baby” Palm Springs inspired baby shower

Any mamas here with a summer baby on the way? You’ll love how mama-to-be and planner + graphic designer at Two Perfect Events Yoko channeled her love of Palm Springs into a cheerful poolside baby shower in tones of yellow, blue, coral, and green. Inspired by the quirky, retro aesthetics of Gray Malin and Wes Anderson, the shower made guests feel like they were on a classic Palm Springs vacay without leaving town. Peruse Hannah Eugster‘s photos below to get inspired for your own summer or yellow themed baby shower!

Palm Springs-Inspired Baby Shower Invitations

Our designer mama-to-be is also a stationer, so she had a blast dreaming up the invites for their Palm Springs baby shower luncheon. A pool-blue envelope sleeved housed the colorful, double-sided checkerboard invitation, topped with a gold tassel. They were mailed in pink envelopes with yellow cabana striped envelope liners. Everything at the baby shower matched both the colors of the invitation as well as the designs.

Yoko explains, The tables were adorned with the most beautiful and playful florals designed by Mister Lee Designs. The arrangements consisted of an array of flowers that included my favorite flower, the anthurium shibori. Some flowers were displayed in cut watermelon slices and the pink dahlia tuber flowers matched the pink flamingo straws.

Such a fun summer tablescape! Can totally see this inspiring not just baby showers, but bridal brunches and outdoor parties all season long.

Guests found their seats via the custom designed motel keychains and got to take home their own coasters designed and made by the Two Perfect Events team, which depicted two swimmers in a pool.

Summer Baby Shower Activities

The welcome table was decorated with favors, guestbook, box for baby books, and prizes for games. The favors were heart shaped sunglasses and Sugarfina’s famous Champagne gummy bears. The guestbook was a frame with a mat that the guests signed, and a group photo taken from the baby shower would be later displayed in the frame. As for the baby books, I loved the idea of having books from the guests (which they signed) in place of a card. I also had retro car toys around as decoration because I loved Gray Malin’s photos of dogs in those types of cars.

After the luncheon, everyone enjoyed their desserts and were entertained with baby shower games which included guessing the size of my baby bump. Next was a baby guessing game where all guests had submitted a baby photo of themselves to me prior to the shower. At the shower, everyone attempted to match the baby photos to the guests. Prizes were distributed to the winners and everyone either played croquet or relaxed by the pool with the pink flamingo floatie and pink beach balls.

Girls Just Wanna Have Sun

They designed a custom photo backdrop to both allude to mama expecting a baby girl and follow the summer baby shower theme. They decorated it with large live plants rented from Leafy, a custom “Bump” street sign, large pink car, and jumbo disco balls. The pink car carried a cute box labeled ‘Special delivery arriving soon’. The design was inspired by Wes Anderson’s Mendl’s patisserie packaging from the movie, The Grand Budapest Hotel. Disco balls were also sprinkled through out the venue which refracted fun little specks of light everywhere.

Drinks and Desserts

Guests were welcomed with a “mom-osa” bar cart with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage options. TÖST was a big hit as a non-alcoholic champagne option that still felt like an adult drink. The dessert table was filled with cute mini desserts including a cake pop designed to be a pink beach ball, made by La Vie Douce Designs. I of course also had to have my favorite Japanese snack called Pocky – strawberry cream covered biscuit sticks. The dessert labels were all custom designed to fit with the theme. We also brought in a Bliss Pops popsicle cart for guests to stay cool, decorated with a menu that said ‘Ready to Pop!’.

Lastly, everyone—perfectly coordinated in yellow—gathered around the pool for the group photo that would later adorned their signed guest book photo frame.

It was a memorable day and such a reprieve to be able to spend time with our loved ones after not being able to see everyone for most of the pandemic. Not to mention one of the most epic and beautiful parties to throw our daughter-to-come, who knows what’s to come for her future parties!

Now THIS is a baby shower to remember! Congratulations to mama Yoko and to the creative team below for such a beautiful celebration…
