GRUB Manchester Wedding

Perched atop the up-and-coming NOMA area of Manchester, surrounded by the striking features of the city’s industrial past, sits the very cool, unique venue of GRUB, Redbank.

The venue itself not only lends itself brilliantly to a 90s-era theme, but the sheer light and hard features within the main space were the perfect, grungy, urban vibe for us to add our style, textures and colours to stage an alternative celebration of love.

When designing the tablescape along with Kate from Florence & Vera Events, I wanted to ensure this was serving luxury, originality and most importantly, texture.

The colour palette was kept muted with pinks, blacks and bieges with accents of gold tones to give a glamourous finish, paired perfectly with gorgeous florals from Blonde Blooms. The crockery and glassware supplied by Whitehouse Crockery wonderfully complemented everything.

I was keen to implement an alternative to a traditional cake and when I discovered Prendi Il Biscotto, I just had to have a tower of Italian canoli and biscotti from Mark. Adorned with florals, this was certainly a showstopping, delicious element, which is much more cost-effective than having one big cake.

Truly transforming the all-white space into a beautifully colourful, romantic scene included multicolour ceiling streamers, neon pole and hanging lights surrounded by iridescent tassles from Love Lights The Way, bold floral clusters and of course, disco balls everywhere.

For Jason’s look, we had a dapper Marc Darcy suit. I chose neutral colours that would make him stand out while trying to steer away from black tie or tweed as I needed something that wasn’t going to outdo nor under-value the whole aesthetic.

For Dani’s bridalwear, I wanted to ensure her dresses were sustainable, unique and super cool. Queue Frock Goddess. Based in Stockport, Jenny creates designs bespoke from vegan and cruelty-free materials and silks.

To accessorise Dani we had hand-made beauties from Silver Sixpence in her Shoe. The showstopping piece was the embellished headband with pearls and gold astrological elements and a bridal beret, which added so much depth and beauty. Add in some crystal-covered pale pink boots from Aldo Shoes and you have one stunning bride.

Dani’s entire look was completed by the incredible talents of Lisa Simms, who styled her hair and makeup to perfectly enhance her outfits and accessories, with a changeup half way through to give her a more glam, evening party look complete with pearl eye adornments.

Capturing the ceremony performed by the amazing Glenn aka That Celebrant Guy, was Sarah Glynn Photography, who brought the initial concept from my head to the real world in such a detailed, bold form. I also enlisted Amy Louise Films to showcase everything in her totally unique film style, allowing the edgy, fun, alternative style to really shine.

Wow! So achingly cool.

A massive thank you to the whole creative team below for sharing these Grub Manchester wedding ideas with us.
