Intimate Country House Party Wedding With Greenery & Candlelight

WWW readers Kathryn and Connel’s Aswarby Rectory wedding in Lincolnshire was an utter delight. They had a country house party atmosphere surrounded by their nearest and dearest. At the heart of their day was perfect imperfection and that’s an ethos I’m fully behind.

They didn’t go all out with details and decor but kept their styling simple. They used the most gorgeous greenery and white flowers to decorate their day. Just wait until you see the lines of tall candles lit in the evening on their wedding tables. So romantic!

I absolutely love their outfit choices, their portrait session in the gardens and of course, those amazing florals. What a dreamy winter’s day.

Thanks ever so much to Ben Barron for sharing with us these stunning shots of one very special celebration indeed!

Aswarby Rectory Wedding

The Proposal

Connel proposed on our favourite beach, Anderby Creek in Lincolnshire, on a gorgeous winter’s day! The sun was shining, despite the cold, and we had a winter picnic. As we were walking down the beach he stopped, got down on one knee and popped the question.

The Vision

Ultimately we wanted relaxed, country house party vibes where we could be with the people we love and just have the best time.

The Venue

Our venue was Aswarby Rectory. It was perfect, as soon as we pulled up onto the driveway we knew we wanted to get married there. It is so gorgeous and what appealed to us was that it didn’t need lots of fuss and frills to make it wedding ready. The elegant, simplicity of the decor highlighted the venue’s natural beauty.

Your Outfits

I always had an idea of where I wanted to buy my wedding dress from, a beautiful wedding dress shop in Tealby called Willow and Lace. Jools was incredible and made my bridesmaids and I feel so excited to find the one.

I picked the most gorgeous Rembo dress which had beautiful lace details which gave it a vintage look. I then had our incredible florist, Louise from Number 27, create a beautiful flower crown with deep reds and plenty of green foliage. A massive shout out to my makeup artist Hannah, who honestly made all the bridal party feel special. She completed the whole look with the makeup which just made me feel the prettiest I had ever been.

Connel wore a two-piece London Blue Donegal suit with a waistcoat in a stone colour which he bought from Moss Bross. He individualised it by getting it tailored with vintage brass buttons. Connel wore a deep red tie with a matching pocket square and brown brogues.

The Ceremony & Music

We had our ceremony at Aswarby in one of their bright beautiful rooms with a gorgeous fireplace and vintage benches for our guests.

We were so lucky to have Tara Baggind, who was simply sensational, play during our ceremony. Whilst waiting for the ceremony to start Tara played classical versions of our favourite music. As I came down the aisle she played The Swan by Camille Saint-Saens.

Your Photographer

Ben Barron was our AMAZING photographer and we literally cannot recommend him enough. His photos always manage to capture the personality and love between each individual couple. We had our engagement photoshoot with him on a beautiful morning in the Peak District. We had a great morning, laughing, joking and taking some great photos. We even found time to have a coffee.

On the day, Ben was just incredible. He managed to capture pictures of both the bridal party and groomsmen. He was so enthusiastic and struck the perfect balance between interacting with guests and being able to capture candid intimate moments. Everyone loved him and he is now going to be the photographer at one of my best friend’s weddings in the summer.

The Honeymoon

Our honeymoon was a week in the Lake District in a super secluded cottage in Kentmere. It was all about long walks, great food and red wine by the fire.

The Styling & Decor

We wanted to keep the styling simple and the venue was just so beautiful it didn’t need loads of fuss. So we decided to decorate using only flowers. Louise from Number 27 created a beautiful stair flower arrangement and ran foliage down rustic tables for the wedding breakfast.

The tables were also dotted with gold candle sticks with plain white candles. Louise also made some beautiful flowers for the fireplace in our ceremony room.

Memorable Moments

Every moment was memorable, we honestly had the most incredible day and when we saw our photographs it further emphasised how amazing it was.

But the most special moment was the five minutes after the ceremony that Connel and I had in the library whilst our guests were escorted to the correct place. In this moment it felt like the whole world had stopped and it was just us.

Advice For Other Couples

There is no such thing as perfect, so don’t worry about the small stuff.

Goodness, what an amazing, cosy and romantic day.

Kathryn and Connel, I can’t thank you enough for sharing your Aswarby Rectory wedding story with us.
