Spring Vintage 70s Inspired Boho Wedding In Green Tones

There is so much to adore about WWW readers Emily and Callum’s 70s-inspired spring wedding. From the gorgeous green colour palette to the cool outfits and vintage touches, you’ll be sure to love it all!

They were wed at Cardiff Register Office before celebrating at St Catherine’s Church Hall in Cardiff. They decked the hall in DIY and personal decor complete with floral napkins, flowers in bottles and a gorgeous flower wedding cake. Swoon.

I really love Emily’s stylish gown, Callum’s dashing suit and the darling green bridesmaid dresses. In fact, the whole wedding party looked amazing. Be sure to check out their wonderfully wild natural flower arrangements, they looked fantastic.

Thanks ever so much to Grace Elizabeth for sharing with us these seriously beautiful images. Enjoy them all!

I loved how you feature real weddings which are unique, and cover the whole day rather than places like Pinterest where you just see one snapshot of a wedding or styled photoshoot.

70s Inspired Spring Green Wedding

The Proposal

We got engaged on our 5th anniversary, January 2017. Callum got down on one knee whilst on a walk in Foots Cray Meadows in Sidcup (where I was at university at the time).

We celebrated that evening with a delicious meal at our favourite Italian restaurant in London.

The Vision

We really wanted our wedding to reflect us as a couple with lots of personal touches.

We took the parts of a traditional wedding that felt important to us, but completely left behind the parts that we didn’t feel represented us. Featuring and celebrating our family and friends was a priority for us, therefore, we took inspiration from family gatherings that we both enjoy so much.

Where possible, we tried to have elements made by people we knew for example, my sister designed our wedding invitations, we had fabric napkins made by Callum’s mum, and the bridesmaid’s dresses were made by a close family friend.

We were also passionate about supporting local and small businesses wherever we could.

Budget

We knew we were willing to spend more on elements that were important to us (photography, food and outfits) so then saved in other areas by making things ourselves or searching for a good bargain on Vinted and Facebook marketplace.

The Venue

The ceremony took place at Cardiff Register Office in the St David’s Room. We then headed across Cardiff to St Catherine’s Church Hall in Pontcanna for the reception.

The Ceremony & Music

Emily walked down the aisle to We’ve Only Just Begun by the Carpenters. During the signing of the register, we had classical guitar pieces playing.

We walked out to Ain’t No Mountain High Enough by Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell. Lucy, Emily’s sister and bridesmaid, read ‘He wishes for the Cloths of Heaven’ by W.B. Yeats.

It was short and sweet, but just perfect and everything we wanted.

Your Outfits

Emily

Wedding dress: E&W Couture

I really wanted a dress that felt like the bridal version of me, that was comfortable but still felt special. E&W Couture was the perfect choice, and I also loved that I was able to support a local business.

Shoes: Esska (the perfect 70s inspired shoes!)

Earrings: Wolf & Moon (I am a massive fan of statement earrings so obviously had to wear them for my wedding!)

Callum

Suit: Dark brown tweed suit from Abitto

We knew we wanted to go for suits with a tweed texture to give a more informal feel to the outfits, whilst still looking smart.

Shoes: Simon Carter Boots

Shirt: White grandad collar shirt that had belonged to Emily’s grandfather.

Your Photographer

Photographer: the wonderful Grace Elizabeth!

The Styling & Decor

Flowers: Flowers by Grace

We wanted lots of greenery and foliage, with colourful pastel tones for the florals. I wanted a larger wild bouquet that felt like it had been picked from a meadow. Grace completely knew the vibe we were going for and created the perfect bouquets, buttonholes and arrangements.

Cake: IsabelRoseBakes

Top tier – Seville orange, bottom tier – Earl Grey. Decorated with edible Spring flowers.

Decorations: We didn’t want to buy anything new, or at the very least wanted to avoid buying items that couldn’t be reused. The table plan was created using a frame we already had. Additional décor on tables included vintage items from Emily’s nan’s house. The tables provided at the hall were lovely rustic trestle tables so we didn’t feel the need to cover them up with tablecloths. We created a last-minute sign on a blackboard that we found in the hall.

Theme: No proper theme, we just wanted it to feel like ‘us’!

Colour: No set colour scheme, just lots of green!

DIY: Fabric napkins made by Callum’s mum. Table plan and place names made by me.

The Honeymoon

In the process of planning this now, we just want somewhere relaxing with really good food!

Memorable Moments

Our friend Jake driving me and my dad to the ceremony in his 30-year-old Fiat Panda. He also drove me and Callum back to the reception venue.
Wandering around the streets of Cardiff with our lovely photographer Grace and passersby congratulating us!
My best friend and maid of honour Eloise surprising us with handpainted plates (we ate our wedding cake off them for dessert!)
Dancing the night away with all of our favourite people!

Advice For Other Couples

Remember that it’s your day, you are the ones getting married and your wedding should reflect the truest parts of you. Don’t feel you have to do things just because it’s a wedding. Make sure that any choice you make, it’s because you want it.

Most of all, enjoy yourselves, the day goes by so quickly.

How very lovely!

Emily and Callum, I can’t thank you enough for sharing your 70s-inspired spring green wedding story. What a delight it’s been.
